Undergoing Bed Bug Extermination? Where You Can Sleep In The Meantime

If you have recently discovered that one or more beds in your home have bed bugs, you are probably waiting to get a bed bug exterminator in to address the problem. Since this has recently become a very big problem in the U.S., you might have a slight wait while the exterminator addresses similar problems in your area. If the wait is longer than a day or two, you might be wondering what you can do for sleeping arrangements in the meantime. Here are some helpful options for a good night's rest until the bed bug extermination process is complete.

Shower and Couch It

If you do not have a lot of bodies in the house and/or not all the beds are infected, you could sleep on your couch for a day or two. Just be absolutely certain to shower thoroughly, wear clean pajamas, and use only blankets and pillows that you have taken from your linen closet (they should be clean and fresh as well).

Fold-out Camping Cots

If you do not want to sleep on your couch, or you need something firmer on which to sleep, a fold-out camping cot works well too. Just be sure to fold it out and fold it back up in a room that is not currently infested with bed bugs. You do not want your cots to become infested as well, and then find a resurgence of these pests when next you go camping or need cots for visiting guests.

Camping Out

If you discover your bed bug problem in summer, good news! You can camp out on your lawn and sleep outside until after the spraying or fumigation for bed bugs is complete. If your neighbors ask questions, simply tell them you are airing out the camping equipment for a future trip. (They do not have to know about your bug problem.)

Hotels That Have Had ZERO Bed Bug Problems for at Least Six Months

While it may be expensive, staying in a hotel may be another option. There is only one caveat to this option. You will need to verify that the hotel has not had a bed bug problem of its own for at least six months. You do not want to go to a hotel to await the exterminator's services for your home only to contract bed bugs at the hotel and reinfest your home after the exterminator has completed the job. There are websites that will confirm reports of bed bug infestations at local hotels, more specifically city and state websites that keep track of these pests and where they are cropping up. Check there and then find a hotel where you can rest in peace.

About Me
Recognizing The Pests In Your Home

When I discovered that my house was filled with spiders, I was absolutely terrified. Unfortunately, when I called my exterminator, I had no idea how to explain to him what kinds of spiders were all over my place. I had to describe the unsightly creatures, which made me wish that I had done a little more homework. Fortunately, the exterminator was able to come out, treat them with the right chemicals, and completely eradicate the little pests from my home. This blog is all about recognizing the pests in your home, so that exterminators can use the right chemicals to treat the problem.
